CrazyDuck's hex file appears to combine the BootLoader and the firmware files into one file. It will work with either a 16F877 OR a 16F877A, but you will not be able to update the firmware to work with different device families or to update to newer firmware. CrazyDuck's hex file will report that it is version 2.0.21 (file ICD01020021.hex in ICD2 directory of MPLAB?) while the latest version is ICD01020411.hex (MPLAB 6.43).

I've some problems with ICD2 on my work's computer. I can connect to ICD2, but I can't program anything. I think I've problem with my computer RS232 levels.

I solve my problem. It was about the "A" suffix of 16F877.
You must not use 16F877A to put the firmware, but a 16F877.

Have you tried my modified bootloader in a 16F877A? I have had no problems updating firmware so far.

I forgot to say, as this is just the bootloader MPLAB reports connection failed. If you then try to download the firmware it should work.

Hi,
The bootloader from Zaphod42 works well. Put it in a 16F877A with a classic programmer. Put the pic on the ICD2, and download the Operating system. That's all!!!

FDS4435 are P channel Mosfet with logic voltage command. You can replace by any mosfet wich have the same characteristics.

unable to connect with mplab icd 2 (com3)

Hi,
Please read the last posts on this topic, you'll find the solution and the correct bootloader from Zaphod42. This bootloader works fine with 16F877A. Put the boot in the PIC with classic programmer, put the pic on the ICD2, connect with MPLAB and in the debugger menu choose, download operating system. Thats all.
