ground is used to eletronices eqipment and earthing r used to the eletrical eqipment

seriously, i think the difference lies in the countries that use the terms....

uk seem to use earthing while us use grounding...

No difference in electrical terms!
But yes it is common to use ground for electronics and earthing for electrical!

Ground:
It is a connection to provide the path for current to go back into source, as current can flow only if loop will complete. As every electrical circuit requires power source to drive it, it requires ground also to provide current path;

Earthing:
Earthing is provided with electrical equipment metalltic body parts, which should not be connected to any circuit elements. If accidently voltage source will be connected to body of equipment, earthing will provide a low resistance path to flow the current and ensure that body will be at zero potential. It is just for safety measure so that if some one is touching the body, he should not suffer with electrical shock.

Umesh.

hey kundan u got a Good question ....physically (in simple words) grounding means, making the same current flow through the circuit loop ....where as in earthing the current vanishes on ground (0v potential) ......grounding is commonly used in electronics where as earthing is used for electrical (continuous current supply)

Grounding a circuit is mandatory, where as earthing a circuit is not mandatory it is preferred. Electrical systems can work without earthing.....

Umesh.

Hi,
I totally agreed with you Umesh.
GROUND: In any Electronic circuit Ground means 0v. All signal tracks should be sandwiched b/w ground tracks.
EARTHING : Given to metallic body, which should not be connected to circuit or PCB. Mr. Umesh already described very nicely.

Cheers!!

Umesh clarification is right........but may know the details regarding three phase grouding and earthing

In general terms in Electronics and Electric circuits,
Grounding: Means making a connection of the circuit board or the wired circuit to the Chassis of equipment containing it.
Earthing: Means making the connection of the chassis to the EARTH.
Grounding mostly use in Electronic circuits and Earthing mostly used in Electrical circuits.
