Question of pre/post process of FFT

Does anybody know why the pre-post process is needed for FFT?
 

what is it, i do fft but never known about that

Depending on the format of the floating point numbers used in the FFT engine, you may need to process data to meet the requirement
 

This is not a floating point or fix point issue.

Before performing FFT youn need to windwow your seuence.
Choosing suitable window depends on your task.

The pre/post process is not windowing either.
It is just N point complex data <--> 2N point real data converter.

I don't know why this is only needed in xDSL DMT and not in DVB, OFDM.
 

you just explicit the FFT step by by to ADD and MUL,and to arrange how to realization.
 

Ifft is necessary in OFDM ,the encode/interlace,etc has been pre processed.
