temperature sensor alert

we need to construct a exp bout temperature sensor involving thermocouple,resistance temperature detector and thermistor..

the objectives r to investigate the non linear characteristics,
mathematical regress model and the ideal model and
also how to model an element from experiment data for all 3 instrument above

1.thermocouple
we have tis system formula but dont understand how its applied and wat is N..

O = KI + a - N(I)
where 0 = output in mV
K = sensitivity
I = input in degree celcius
a = intersection point
N( ) = non linear equation

we also dont understand how to analyse and model the thermocouple by using the ideal formula and non-linear polynomial regression method..

2. RTD

how to convert resistance output into voltage output,and which is easiest to conduct in lab?

3. thermistor

how to compensate the self heating

..we hope u can help,thanking in advance

For the thermocouple experiment, I'd suggest to take a look at :

For the RTD, you just have a reference voltage and you measure the voltage drop over the sensor. I've attached an HTML RTD calculator which tells you what is the resistance at different temperatures for different types of probes ..

NI has a nice tutorial on RTDs and thermistors .. make them a visit!
