how to measure impact force

Hi,

I would like to hook up a system to measure impact and draw a graph on laptop screen. I'll need a sensor (maybe a strain sensor?), DAQ and a laptop with right software.
Any suggestions?

There must be commercially available load cells or srain sensors to connect via some usb datalogger to laptop. Is there any cheap and simple DAQ systems available?

Omega is a major manufacturer of load cells and strain gauges.
I would also consider measuring the acceleration of the target due to impact with an accelerometer.
You might find out that impacts are relatively fast events that would need DAQ with fast sampling. There are USB DAQs with fast sampling.
I'd like to invite your question to a group dedicated to sensors: **broken link removed**. Measuring impacts and blasts was discussed there at some point.
