inexpensive plc

hi
in many little projects we need to show statuses by LEDs. but it is not good idea to use Output cards, becuase thats too expensive.
i use an omron PLC and i designed a AVR based board to read statuses from PLC with host link. but supervisor dont accept this board. do you have an inexpensive way to control LEDs with PLC?

plc omron hostlink

U can use Modbus RTU for Omron PLC, and 3rd party remote IO (some brand very cheap). It is standard and cheap, I think your boss like It.
