failed to build vdb. cannot submit drc run.

Friends,

I'm using IBM cms9flp technology for circuit design. When I tried to do DRC on my layout using Assura-->DRC, an error message popped up, saying "Failed to build VDB, can't submit DRC run". I'm pretty sure the design rule path and switch name were correctly set.......Does anyone know what the problem might be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! THanks!

I think I've seen this once and it needed either the rules path or the layout
view fixed. Look at the barf-message more closely, before this final complaint
and you may see more clues.

Hi,

There might be many weird reasons for this error. Try these solutions:
1. check if you have palced any symbol (view) in the layout by mistake. Search for symbol view and delete it
2. Make sure that all the schematic upto the lowest hierarchy is check and saved.
3. Make sure all the views that you have used in the layout exists. ( missing instances will cause vdb failure)

Sindhu
