Hi friends this is praveen beginner in pic programing i am having on doubt :

If i assign the pins of the any port as a input using TRIS instruction then what is the status of the pins that is whether the pins are in HIGH(logic 1) state or in LOW(logic 0) state.

why i am asking this is, i assigned PORTD as a input using direction instruction i want to make PORTD pins as a HIGH and loaded PORTD=0xFF; but it not making high. why?????????

Hi,
As inputs, the external inputs will decide the status of the pins.

if you set a port as input port you cant assign any value to that port. you are supposed to read the status of the port.
