How is grid calculated in a stdcell?

how is grid calculated in a stdcell?

I don't have much idea about routing grid caliculation.

But in general you will be having grid resolution also. We will generally call it as Grid only. Correct if I am wrong. Thank You.

I think you haven't heard about manufacturing grid.. have you.... :?:

I think i have put my question in a wrong way.Sorry if it hurts u.I really dont know other grids.
Now i am hearing about manufacturing grid.
Thanks for the reply.can u please tell me the diff b/w routing grid and manufacturing grid.

Not at all... it doesn't offend me...Actually I am imposing a question on you, may be my way is not correct... :D
Anyways, Lets talk about your issue...

Manufacturing grid is determined by the smallest geometry that a
semiconductor foundry can process. All drawn geometries during physical
design must snap to this manufacturing grid. (Minimum resolution)
Routing grids or tracks are used by physical synthesis and place-and-route
tools during detail routing. These are determined on the basis of pitch calculated for a metal layer..

Yes you are absolutely correct. I guess it is now clear for the author.
But can I ask how we will decide the pitch in our standard cells.

Actually I didn't work much on standard cell layouts. When I worked also our cad guys helped me. I didn't involved much. I just want to know how we will decide that one.

The above figure already described the types of pitches, you have to follow minimum spacing rule, minimum metal width rule, via enclosure.. So the above geometry comes after minimizing all the dimensions with no DRC....
