Razavi's book should help.

If this is your PhD topic, you may refer Taur and Ning.

Jacob Baker's book will help too. Chapter 23 deals with design of voltage references. Ideally you should simulate any circuit before accepting it on its face value. What say?
In fact, you should read Razavi' book as well. As such, you would gain a different perspective.
