Hi,

can any one explain the bottom-up and top-down approach and difference between them in synthesis?

Regards & Thanks,
Vid31

Hi Vid,

Top-down compile, in which the top-level design and all its subdesigns are compiled together
--low memory footprint designs, use ILMs if design is memory limited, interblock dependencies are resolved by the tool,

Bottom-up compile, in which the individual subdesigns are compiled separately, starting from the bottom of the hierarchy and proceeding up through the levels of the hierarchy until the top-level design is compiled
--for medium to large size designs, divide and conquer, time budgeting

for details you can go through any synthesis UG

cheers,
