difference between MSP 430 and PIC Controller.
what are advantages of using MSP430

Which PIC controller are you referring to?
If you are talking about PIC10, PIC12, PIC16 or PIC18, the main difference is that MSP430 is 16-bit. As far as I know, the maximum voltage applicable to the MSP430 is around 3.6v. Besides that, I'm not very sure regarding peripherals, architecture, etc.

Hope this helps.
Tahmid.

the MSP430 is a low power MCU, and it is easy to program, i didn't use the PIC but as i know it is an easy mcu to program and it is intended to beginner

thank u sir
i am new to controller. for our project we using msp 430.. please give tutorials or tutorial links for msp 430

as ia know the best tutorial can be found in the TI website, and also the datasheet, also refer to aplication note that you can find in TI website for example **broken link removed**

i am using msp 430fg2211 and msp430x2xxx series for other projects

Yea, you should carefully go through the datasheet of the specific controller you are looking for.

There you can search for documents, application notes, etc for the different MSP430 microcontrollers.

Hope this helps.

in simulation he can find in proteus isis a model for the msp430, i used it before and it works well with the reality, the simulation in isis is also good and give the same result found in practice

proteus isis a model for the msp430

is available in trail version?

if so what is its version number?

One of the hottest deals out there right now is the the TI MSP430 LaunchPad Kit:

MSP-EXP430G2 - MSP430 LaunchPad Value Line Development kit

Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2
Price: $4.30 USD which included FedEx Overnight Shipping

What is LaunchPad?

LaunchPad is an easy-to-use development tool intended for beginners and experienced users alike for creating microcontroller-based applications. At $4.30, the LaunchPad offers everything you need to get started with your projects.

The LaunchPad development tool is a part of the MSP430 Value Line series. The integrated DIP target socket allows all 14 and 20-pin MSP430 Value Line devices to be dropped into the LaunchPad board for easy programming, debugging, and monitoring. Included are free unrestricted and downloadable software development environments for writing and debugging software. The LaunchPad can be used to create interactive solutions thanks to its integrated buttons, LEDs, and extra input/output pins for easy integration of external devices.

Why LaunchPad?

The LaunchPad is an easy-to-use, affordable, and scalable introduction to the world of microcontrollers and the MSP430 family.
Easy-to-use – LaunchPad includes all of the hardware and software needed to get started. Pre-programmed devices and code examples help users get up and running quickly.

Affordable – For $4.30, the LaunchPad includes a development board, 2 programmable MSP430 microcontrollers, mini-USB cable, PCB connectors for expandability, external crystal for increased clock accuracy, and unrestricted software integrated development environments (IDEs) – everything you need to get started today.
Scalable – The LaunchPad is a simple introduction to the MSP430 microcontroller family. As application requirements change, programs developed on the LaunchPad can be migrated to higher end MSP430 devices.

The launchpad is an incredible deal. I've been using the MSP430 family for several of my commercial projects and I have several of TI's more advanced Development Boards.

However, for $4.30 including free shipping, I ordered the limit of five units. Pick one up, you can't go wrong.

Yes i agree with big dog try to use the launchpad, me too i used it before, it is a very simple evaluation board, and if you help we can also help you i have been using the launchpad also for my many project
