How to buld a switch regulator, instead of using IC with input of 15v to 60v dc convert to 5vol dc? I need this regulator as power supply for mirco-controller- atmega8.

Just use 7805. It can stand up to 1A. I dont think you need more than that to power up your microcontroller. If not use 5V Zener. But 7805 is still a better choice. ~~

Here is something for you to start with. I built the design in LTSpice. To get within your specific parameters you should simulate with peak current transients on your edge input voltages.

The 7805 will not be able to witstand the 60V input

The comparator used in the simulation was fast enough to manage on its own. I have taken out one of the two comparators.

Dear ejeet
Hi
Of course your circuit will not good if you don't add a totem pole stage to drive enough current of gate .
By the way , your circuit isn't switch mode , because i think this circuit can't generate PWM .
And Dear jx_ben
Hi
i think if you try an LM2576 ADj HV , it will be a good choice too .
Best Wishes
