Hi all,

I use a gm equation from Grey's book to calculate gm value which has more than 25% difference from the real value from simulation. I use BSIM4 model and 0.11 process. Does anyone know where can I got the real equation for that?

Re: Does anyone know what is the real gm equation in BSIM4 m

I believe that it is a first order derivative from the Id value and BSIM4 or BSIm3v3 does not model this. Typically you will be much better to do this by simulation and use the simulated value of the devices.

Hope that will help.

yeah , the BSIM4 model is very complex , so people use the gm/Id method to design analog circuits in the deep submicron technologies

As khouly said, the bsim4 equation is very complex and cannot be used for hand calculations. At any rate, you can find it at:

Good luck!
