HI all
i am designing the 10dBm power amplifier for my project.

While searching for 10dBm amplifiers, i found an device which is matching my required specification (frequency,P1dB, OIP3, Gain, current and voltage). But the datasheet heading say's LNA amplifier for ISM band.

My question is, can i use this LNA as PA in my design. if yes, did i required to take any design consideration .
if no please brief me the reason

thanks and regards
kumar

Re: PA replacement

Hello Kumar,

If that device meeting all your other requirements like gain,Output power,IP3 etc.
I think you can use it for your application.Other wise for 10dBm output power you can get number of devices. The simplest device I know for this power is GALI devices from Mini circuits. They don't need much tuning also.

PA replacement

i agree also , as the device it self give u all the spec's u can use it

another thing 10 dBm is not that high power so u need to use special transistor

can u send the part number of the device u found

Hello Kumar,

As Khouly said, its better to send the device datasheet which you found.

Dear sekar/khouly

thanks for your valuable feed back.

i am using MGA61563 from avgo, this as shutdown(bias) control feature. so that i can switch off(gain control) the device when not required.

i am selected this 15dBm P1dBm considering the losses in the further fillter stage(also gain can be adjusted) .

pls find the link for the datashet

PA replacement

hi disisku_22

i have checked the datasheet , it said this also cna be used as a driver amplifier and the OIP3 is good it is about 18 dB from ur Max power

so u can use this device. also note the gain is high so u need to take care of the input level

Re: PA replacement

Hello Disisku_22,

You can use the device as it is providing you some cushion in P1 dB as khouly said.
But take care of the Device placement and Ground pouring as per the guidelines given in Application notes. Some cases if you have not followed the guidelines there are chances degradation in device perfomance.
