max operating frequency

Calculate the maximum operating frequency of this circuit.

Re: max operating frequency

POST the circuit please!

Re: max operating frequency

Hi Pavan,

Max frquency is 59 MHz..

Thanks,
sp3

Re: max operating frequency

In this case clock skew gets nullified both the flop get mail clock delayed by 2ns.
The max period = tclk2q1 + tcombo + tsetup2
= 3ns + 10ns + 2 ns
= 15 ns
So the max freq = 1/max period = 1/15ns = 66.666 Mhz

Re: max operating frequency

max frequency=1/(2+3+10+2)ns
=58.8Mhz

Re: max operating frequency

Guy's I m more confused now....
nand_gates why r we not considering the hold time of the first flipflop can u plz xplain?

thanx for ur support guys

Re: max operating frequency

venkat y r u considering the buffer delay in calculating the maximum freq?....i think the ans should me 66.666 only..

chk this

Re: max operating frequency

1/15ns is the right answer... nand_gates' calculation is correct.

phoenix_pavan,

When we consider the path between FF1 and FF2, we assume that the input data to the FF1 remains stable while analyzing the path. So, we need not consider the setup time and hold time of FF1 while analyzing the path from FF1 to FF2.
