Hello,

Have any one of you constructed the Lancos' SI Prog? ()

I have some questions:
1. Why did the author ask not to use a 78L05 IC?
2. How do you use the jumpers?
3. What is the purpose of jumpers as the Q6 collector is always shorted with the voltage regulators input
4. What is the purpose of feeding unregulated external power through pin 7?
5. Is it really better than the STK200 compatible parallel versions? (If yes then how?)

Hi Rolling,
Answer for your's question:
1. You can use 78L05 with no problem,
2. Jumpers is for switching ext with int power, I use int power supply (this variant not work on any PC, depending of current on your's motherboard),
3. Use Q6 anyway,
4. Pin 7 is for some device who need higher power of 5V, for example for MDA2061/62 (in this case use some power pump...),
5. I do not experience with STK

My sugestion for you,
use ext power variant, and in place of Z1, Z2, Z3 use 5,6V diode not 5,1 V

Work very fine

Regards

thanks. I figured the power draining was simply unnecessary, so I just omitted them. I use 5.1V Zener Diodes and they work fine. The writing speed is slightly higher than the Peter Fleury's STK200 compatible, but verifying speed was same.
