Hi
I need a switching power supply (SMPS) for a digital circuit, with following specifications. What is your offer?
The offer may have lowest price or lowest components count or highest efficiency.

1) Input Voltage: 5-12V
2) Output Voltage: 3.3V
3) Output Current: 200mA
4) Isolation: NOT needed
5) Protections: NOT needed

Try something like the LM2674M-3.3 ..

For the lowest component count and the lowest price, probably IanP's suggestion is the best.
For higher efficiency you can try LM3485 from National, with a low-charge external MOSFET.
For even higher efficiency you can try Maxim's MAX1744.
There are a few other solutions from Linear Technology and Fairchild.

One good choice is LM317. Download it's datasheet and choose R1 and R2. It simply work.

There are a number of regulators that can be of use to you from Linear Technology.
The following link will give you some ICs that will meet or exceed your specifications.
I have put in your specifications to populate the list.

The nice thing about using these ICs is that LTC has a model for nearly all of their
components and the typical application is ready to be simulated. You can download
LTC's spice (LTspice) free from their website.
