i want to connect a barcode reader to a microcontroller.
i want the microcontroller to read the data which the reader send to perform a task.
i want the microcontroller to compair the data sent with a stored data in the microcontroller memory.
my reader is a ps2.
which microcontroller can i use?
and i want the code to be written in the microcontroller to read the data.

I have done one project using a serial barcode reader, an external eeprom, real time clock, and serial port to download the data to a pc. Try to connect your reader to a pc try a serial terminal software to communicate with the reader.
After establishing a communication and handshaking requirement switch to a microcontroller and try recieving some data from the reader. After that modify your program as you progress.

Here is a terminal software I used.
