arp ----------->manipulate the system ARP cache
chat----------->engage the modem in an automated conversation
fping----------->send ICMP ECHO_REQUEST packets to network hosts
icmpinfo ----------->nterpret ICMP messages
ifconfig ----------->configure a network interface
ifdown ----------->make a network interface down
ifup ----------->bring a network interface up
ipacset -----------> set kernel ip accounting rules
ipchains ----------->administer IP firewalls
ipchains-restore -----------> restore IP firewall chains from stdin
ipchains-save ----------->save IP firewall chains to stdout
ipfwadm ----------->administer and account for IP firewalls
netstat ----------->display network status
ping ----------->send ICMP ECHO_REQUEST packets to network hosts
route ----------->show / manipulate the IP routing table
slrnpull ----------->download news into slrn(1) news spool
sniffit ----------->monitor packets
tcpdump ----------->dump traffic on a network
traceroute ----------->print the route packets take to network host
apache ----------->run this HTTP server
bind ----------->(the Berkeley Internet Name Domain server)
exim ----------->run this mail-transfer agent
ftpd ----------->run the internet File Transfer Protocol server
identd -----------> TCP/IP ident protocol server
in.fingerd -----------> run this remote user-information server
in.talkd -----------> run this remote user-communication server
in.telnetd ----------->run the telnet-protocol server
inetd -----------> run the internet super-server
iplogger ----------->log incoming TCP and ICMP sessions

sshd ----------->run this secure shell daemon

tcpd ----------->use this access-control facility for intrnet svcs
tcplogd -----------> log incoming TCP sessions

To learn more about a specific command, especially the sintaxis, try

man command
