tnx

you got the right idea. to transmit audio through ethernet, you will need to convert to some kind of digital format. If you are not transmitting to another computer but external device you can convert it straight to 1's and 0's, you can buffer the output and send it through a Digtal to audio coverter (DAC) chip. see if that works.

what i wanna do is a public address system using our University's Local Area Network. i havent much idea on how will i be able to convert analog signal from microphone to digital signal, using codecs? how will i specify the bandwidth allocated for my transmission, is the parameter governed by the codecs, also? you got me right of transmitting into an external device which is a loudspeaker, it only differs from the usual cause i intend to use the LAN using CAT5 with 100baseTX networking specs, the interfacing between the loudspeakers and the pc connected to this LAN.
we studied much on the theory regarding the bandwidth, etc, still we lack on applying those study on hardware.. too bad..:( pls. help...
tnx anno..:)
