Of course the microphone is an electret type, not a condenser type.

I think the original circuit has an error. the 330k resistor should be 330 ohms or 3.3k ohms. Then the bistable transistors will flip and flop properly.

EDIT: No, I was wrong. the original circuit should work fine if the transistors have their pins connected properly and the 10uF capacitors have the + terminal at the collectors of the transistors.

Of course, the diodes must be connected with the correct polarity.
 

clap switch applications

the bistable circuit should stay turned on forever or until you clap again. your circuit acts like a mono-stable because something is wrong with it.

Did you use BC547 transistors and check the pins on the datasheet?
Does the battery voltage stay at more than 8V?

Try changing the diode in the emitter of the transistor to a 1N4001

did someone tried that ci4-clap diagram?
i did and it doesn't turn the load on...
i clap once and the red light goes on but when i clap twice nothing happens...
what am i doing wrong?
Can someone help me?

Most old circuits on that website in India don't work.
This circuit does not have a supply bypass capacitor so when the 555 switches, the supply voltage drops low and then bounces all over the place.

The 4017 is a counter but the circuit does not reset it when the power is applied so it counts randomly.

Added after 47 minutes:

instead of a 2,2uF capacitor for 15V i've got a 2,2uF capacitor for 50V, could that change be the problem?

The voltage rating of a capacitor doesn't make any difference as long as it is high enough.

The circuit might work if you add what I said it needs.

I looked in Google and found many clap switch circuits. This one was there. There are other circuits that might not work. One site had a computer virus that my software discovered and would not allow.

Hello, I have a few questions in regard to the circuit.
1. There is a lot of noice in the circuit, can I use another latest OP-amp TL074 or OPA 4134 to improve distortion and Noice. Do I need to make any changes to the circuit. All units are quad .
2. What does IC1A do,
3. what does IC1B do ,
4 what does IC1D do.
5. There is a GAIN input to the transistor base. What is the purpose of this.

I would like to make this circuit but understand it if it works in principle.

The circuit is from Maplin.

The LM324 quad opamp is one of the noisiest ever made. Use a better quad opamp and it will plug in and work much better.

It is a preamp with switched gain. It is a very poor bandpass filter with C8 cutting low and medium frequencies and C9 cutting medium and high frequencies.

It is a precision rectifier with a gain of 101.

Its output is a timed positive pulse.

I don't know. The project should say why the gain is switched.
 

Clap Switch

Appologies for posting in different sections, I am new and not aware of how forum works. It will happen again.

I want to put my clap switch in my room where there is a lot of noises such as music so I want to add a band pass filter. The question is where do I add him and do I need to add an amp as well?

A hand clap is sound. Music is also sound. The hand clap circuit already has a highpass filter so adding a bandpass filter will just pass the frequency band of music that is the same frequency as a hand clap. Then the music will activate the circuit the same as a hand clap.

Maybe instead of a hand clap you can use DTMF (touch-tone telephone dialing) sounds and a DTMF decoder. Music does not cause many false alarm decoding for DTMF.

It will be difficult for a circuit to ignore loud music but be activated by a hand clap without the circuit having a brain (a computer that remembers what a clap sounds like).

A hand clap is a high frequency sound that has a very short duration. Music has many high frequency sounds that have a very short duration.
