Hello , I Need Help in designing/simulating a Texas TMS 320 62xx series processor using VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Defination Language).

Please guide me from where should I start.

Any links for books/articles are welcome.

Regards & Thanks

Robin

Hi ,

Please check whether you have following .

1) if you are planning to do simulation , do you have simulation models for simulator you are using ?
2) compile/assmbler/linker and hex conversion tools to get a hex code with your testcase
3) are u planning to verify processor subsys ?

Thanks & Regards

Hello Thanks for your reply.

Firstly I have to design the DSP processor using VHDL.
I have access to Tools like Xilinx , Active HDL ver 7.0 and Model Sim
and many other tools.

Please tell me what else do I need?
and
what sort of methodology should I follow for the design procedure.

Regards

Robin

Hi ,

To design DSP processor , first you should finalize instructionset and pipeline depth , prefetch buffer ?, how many registers etc ... if you are planning to take the same DSP processor then it is fine and you should have the design spec of same processor ?

when you start design for FPGA better you follow RTL coding guide lines ....
I am attaching a pdf for the same .

Thanks & Regards
yln

you can find the same in the following link

Thanks for your Help
