wireless technologies

I would like to controll my project in a remote location. Is it possible to wire mother circuit with a very long connection for remote control. I'm planning to substitute the wire with Infrared or RF. What is the best practice concerning todays technology? How do I incorporate infrared transcievers into my project? I'm using PIC16F84A with 4MHz crystal. I'm using PIC Basic. Is there any technical notes explaining how to program infrared transmitter & receiver for remote control? How about RF modules?

Hi emavil,

At present everybody prefers wireless control over
wired control.
Infrared requires line of sight for communication between the modules.
For infra red you have to use IR LED and TSOP 1738.

For wireless you can use laipac RLC/TLC modules which communicate at 433MHz

Essentilly the choice depends on the kind of set up u r using.

regards,
sudhir

trf-2.4g transceiver

Hi emavil,

This is a good choice: "2.4Ghz. Data Transceiver"
TRF-2.4G High frequency Transceiver module (GFSK) 2.4GHz
TLP2.4G - High Speed Data/Transceiver 2.4Ghz

Specification :
* Frequency : 2.4~2.524 GHz
* Modulation type: GFSK
* Op. Voltage: 3V
* Output Power: +4dBm
* Data Rate: 1Mbps
* Small footprint size: 20.0 x 36.7 x 2.4mm
* Operating Tempeature: -40 ~ +85 C
* Long range : 280mts @250Kbps ; 150mts @1Mbps
* Built-in antenna.
* Real full-duplex, including decoder, encoder and data buffer.
* Very low cost
* Applications: Telemetry, Wireless Toys, Remote Control, Wireless Speaker, Wireless Earphone or Walkie-Talkie, Wireless Mouse and Keyboard, Utility Meters Data Downloading ...etc

RX SENS Sensitivity at 0.1%BER(@250kbps) -90 dB
RX SENS Sensitivity at 0.1%BER(@1000kbps) -80 dB

Conditions: VDD=+3V,VSS=0V,T A =-40 centigrade to +85 centigrade

Added after 23 minutes:

This is the complete TRF-2.4G Transceiver Data Sheet.

High frequency 2.4G Wireless Transceiver Antenna, Codec and CRC built in Data Rate up to 1Mbps.

high speed wireless data transceiver 1mbps

If you using PIC16F84A, it's can be communication with TRF-2.4G Transceiver via SPI.
