hi, everybody.

now i am designing a LNA.

i have the data sheet of the transistor and the S parameter, but the transistor is not in the compenent library of the @DS.

my question is how to do with @DS in the first step and the flow of designing.

to use the S2P compenent and then import the .s2p????
and how to design the match network??also with the S2P compenent???
and how to design the bias network, since have no the compenent?

thanks u!

Re: flow of designing LNA, if no compenent in the @DS librar

Pls. look at the 1GHz LNA design in the examples directory. This gives step by step procedure for LNA design. You can attach (Edit in the compenent properties window for 2 port block) the sparameter text file to the .s2p block and use it. Bias network design has to be done by considering the the sparameter measurement is done at what bias conditions(for exampleSparameter measured@ Vds=3V and Id= 60mA ). Hope this helps

thank u!

i know the sparameter is measured in condition of the bias network, but how to use in @DS? because we only have the 2 port block. can we use the other transistors instead of it?

thanks again!

S-parameter is all your need to design an LNA. Your job is determine input and output matching networks based on requirements such as stability, gain and noise figure.

Re: flow of designing LNA, if no compenent in the @DS librar

U should not use another Transistor cause then u have different S parameters. What u want to do is a linear analysis of the Amplifier and find the optimal Zin for minimum noise figure, S parameters are enough for that. Just use the S2P 2 terminal Block on the Data Items in ADS. Inside it u can just point to the file where u have your S parameters for a specific bias condition and do the rest of the analysis. ADS library models are exactly the same just that your component model looks like a transistor and not a Box like the one u will use.

For bias u just need to gurantee Ic and Vce , u dont need much info for the Tansistor for that, datasheet is enough.

thank u!

I need to read more books about LNA!

Can anybody give me some experience papers?

thanks again!
