hello every one, i am simulating a cavity in HFSS but a strange thing happened in the result.
firstly i simulate a cavity with lossless material which the magnetic loss set to 0 and the frequency is 3.18MHz which is my expectation, but when i set the magnetic loss to 1.8 which are confirmed with fact while the frequency changed a lot to 1.0MHz. i was wondering if you know why this happened, thank you for your help

Hi,
For all i know, the quality factor of a cavity is a function of the loss. And an ideal cavity without loss gives modal solutions different from a real cavity (see Maxwell equations which give : Laplacien(E) + k² E = 0 where k is a function of material values and gives rise to the eigen value of the cavity problem or the eigen frequency). As i can see your magnetic loss are high. I think that it's the explanation for the difference between the frequencies.

Bye.
