information req on mixer design

Can u suggest me any books or URLs for mixer design?

there is a book called trade-offs in analog circuit design, its good for designing circuits like gilbert cell mixer, VCO and blah blah. that book should be somewhere in this forum. if u have trouble in finding that book, let me know.

Here are some rules of thumb. Single transistor mixers are the worst with poor IMD products and mixing product outputs.

The next best is the six transistor configuration that was used back in the days of valves/tubes when Gilbert was in grammar school. For some reason unskilled journalists and academics give Gilbert credit for this mixer configuration and refuse to admit their errors as if no one notices. The performance of this configuration was much better with valves, especially the beam deflection type such as the 7360 US valve. Collins Radio Company used it in its highest cost, highest performance equipment.

The highest performance mixers use diodes. The broad band ones with transmission line transformers are the best. You should examine www.minicircuits.com for examples of the performance.
