Does anbody have any clue about this?

I vaguely remember from some time earlier than this an idea of space satellites using solar cells to power microwave generators. The microwaves were beamed to the ground where they would be rectified and turned into DC power. There was a big objection from safety conscious people about what would happen if the aiming was not right and the microwaves cooked people and animals on the ground as in microwave oven methods.
