full bridge rectifier

I dont have variable dc supply more than 64 volts.
But I have variable ac supply upto 220v . Can I simply rectify the supply using bridge rectifier and capacitor and use it as a dc bus in my hbridge.? Coz it will not be a pure dc.
should i use bootstrap capacitor of 47uf ( 450 volt ) in IR2101 ?
 

Yes, you can do that. It's just like AC from an other transfiormer, only a more dangerous one because it can deliver massive amounts of current and there is no isolation from the mains.
I use a HV transformer with a bridge rectifier and filtercaps after a variac and isolation transformer so I have AC from 0- 250V and DC from 0- 1200V.

Why do you think it wil not be pure DC ?

I do not understand your question about bootstrapping something
 
IR2101 needs an isolated voltage and one cannot draw it from rectified 220 v ac.
 

hello to everybody,
I'm simulating a full wave bridge rectifier by means of Agilent ADS. With regard to the following picture, I would like to know whether or not the negative pin of the source port must be connected to a ground reference.

not connected to ground in ac source line bro!!.

Diode 4 is now shorted between two ground connections, so what you think ;-)

I have another question, if possible. What do you reckon of using ST 1N6263 Schottky diodes to implement a bridge rectifier at 50 kHz? Do you have some more suitable model to suggest at this frequency? thanks again ;-)
 

i think there is no difference replace with normal diode to schottky diode read specific datasheet and try it .

but also Si Schottky barrier diode, which is optimized to give a low voltage drop and operate at the relatively high frequencies (in the range of 100 kHz) required to improve the efficiency of the inductive links;
