"capacitance to ground" of what range can be replaced by wider microstrips?

Practically, which can be made using wider mictrostrips/stub areas and what are better done by smd capacitors?

It depends on your substrate. For x- band and rogers 4003, i made capacitors in the range of 1-3 pF (3pF: ca. 1.2 x 2.2 mm)
