I am looking for websites where I can find open-source implementations (preferably HDL, but SW is fine as well) of popular cores.
More specifically, I am looking for implementation of wireless protocols stacks.
More specifically still, I am looking MAC-layer implementations for WiMAX...
I'd recommend ZigBee. Its a standardized wireless protocol that aimed at wireless communication in industries. Because of its limited scope, its a relatively simple standard.
You can find the standard on IEEE website. (IEEE 802.15.4)

I am working on a project for which I need WiFi*, WiMAX and Bluetooth MAC** Implementations.
1. I would aprreciate any advice on finding open-source implementations for these. Ideally in an HDL but even pure functional implementation in say C/MATLAB etc would help be shave...
