I've been trying to use the footprint manager in altium to change a number of footprints at a time. To do this I go in to the manager, select all the components I want to change and add a new footprint by using browse to find the exact footprint in the library. I then validate it and press...
altium does create a room for the middle sheet, but it only contains the ics and two caps, so I'm not sure the best way of getting from that (bottom part of attached fig) to what I want, where the routing is all complete (the top part of attached fig). It seems I can't do this if I leave them as...

I think I see what you mean - if I rearrange my schematic so I just have a top sheet containing four sub sheets, each of which contain both the ics and the current smallest room. Is that right?

ahh, I actually solved the problem - it seems that I don't need a bus at all! For example if I just have nets labelled selectx1, selectx2, etc. and a net attaching to a repeat port labelled selectx, it seems to work fine. I have a different problem now, but I suppose that's another question for...
ah yes, i noticed that the other day after I posted. I have now changed the schematics so all bus to wire connections have a bus entry, but the problem still stays the same!
Any recommendations regarding the layout would be also appreciated
