Extracting the effective parameters of multilayer dielectric using Nicolson Ross Weir

Hi, If i have multilayer of unknown materials stacked, how can i calculate the effective permittivity and permeability of entire slab using Nicolson Ross Weir (NRW) algorithm? Assume wave is propagating perpendicular to the multilayer surface, and S parameter is calculated using measurement...

CST Microwave Studio uses which time harmonic function (e^-jwt OR e^+jwt)?

This question arise while extracting the metamaterial property from the CST S parameter result. Depending on the time factor (e^-jwt OR e^+jwt), the S parameters will be time reversed. Please clarify which convention CST adopts.

Plane of Incidence for the wave transmitted with Horn Antenna.

Q1: Suppose Horn Antenna is used to transmit wave toward a target equipment under test (EUT), then what is the plane of incidence. Since with reference to the Incidence plane, TE and TM is defined. Plane of Incidence is a plane perpendicular to the EUT surface which also contain the incidence...

[SOLVED] What are the basic parameters for analyzing a Frequency Selective Surface?

The reflection coefficient is (S22 or S11) and transmission coefficient is (S21 or S21). I think HFSS will plot S in dB Vs Frequency. From above coefficients you can understand the behavior of the FSS screen. I still you have doubt you can attach the article which you refer.

[SOLVED] What are the basic parameters for analyzing a Frequency Selective Surface?

What do you mean by array configuration. In simulation even you see unit cell, due to periodic boundary, it is equal to infinite array.

[SOLVED] What are the basic parameters for analyzing a Frequency Selective Surface?

But the FSS elements resonance frequency, bandwidth will vary with the following. So you have to consider, -TE/TM polarization ( your S11,21 will be different for TE and TM) -Incidence angle variation (theta, phi) -parameters of the FSS elements(like width, length, periodicity, substrate thickness)

Why Resonance Frequency of Frequency Selective Surface Change with Incidence Angle

Sorry. One more question. Please help to understand TE/TM. Also correct if i am wrong in the following statements. Assume FSS screen is placed in 'YZ' plane. [polarization angle-Sci;Azimuth incidence angle-phi;elevation inc angle-theta] (i) 'XZ' is incidence plane. Whether it should be the...

Why Resonance Frequency of Frequency Selective Surface Change with Incidence Angle

Dear rrumpf! Your posts / replies on this forum on FSS are very useful. Kindly keep helping the FSS community. Still i have basic doubts on FSS, but i wont disturb you continuously.

EBG structure modeling in CST with problem of Zmax and Zmin

Vary the distance using sweep. Beyond a distance the curve will not vary and you can decide from it. Experts suggest to have min distance of lamda/4.

How much number of TE and TM modes should be?

Thank you rrumpf! Can you help me to find the number of modes in CST MWS FSS simulation. Also CST FSS simulation supports TE and TM polarization only. Is it possible to simulate for other angle of polarization (Ex: 60 Degree). Thanks in advance.

Why Resonance Frequency of Frequency Selective Surface Change with Incidence Angle

Thanks a lot "rrumpf". Please find the attached FSS array. Its Greek Cross Dipole Aperture Array designed for Band Pass response at 15 GHz. Consider vertical polarized wave strike the FSS at different incidence angles (0 t0 60 degree). For all the above incidence angles, the Electric field is...

Why Resonance Frequency of Frequency Selective Surface Change with Incidence Angle

For a given dimension of element (patch or aperture type) in Frequency of Frequency Selective (FSS), the resonance frequency (Fr) change with Incidence Angle and polarization. (Example: Let us take a dipole cross type aperture array. The length of dipole is 1 centimeter. Fr is 15 GHz for...
