If I have to use a non resonant antenna with a transmission line, Is it still possble to match it to a 50 ohm transceiver at the other end?
Some people said I will always get mismatch between the antenna and the transmission line. But some people said I still can match it at the other end...

Thanks for all posts. I think I understand now that the condition above cannot happen in real life. So I can l use the equation confidently for my real problem.

Thanks Vfone. It's not a practical problem. I just don't think I can receive 40dBm power from 0 dBm source using passive component (antenna). Maybe I'm wrong?

I have a question. If my system has 2 antennas both with 30dBi gain. I feed 0dBm power to the 30dBi antenna and assume the path loss is 20dB. At the receiver I connect a 30dBi antenna to a spectrum analyzer. Am I going to get Pr= Pt+Gt-PL+Gr = 0+30-20+30 = 40 dBm on the spectrum...
