if its youre first PCI design ,I strongly recommend you to use PLX chips ,because they are very easy to use and also you won't have much problem in preparing your device driver ,since they give you Jungo WinDriver with support of their chip
I think first you should decide wheather you want a floating point DSP or fixed point ? For fixed point case I think TMS320C5402 with 100 MIPS processing power is a good choice you can buy its DSK from TI with reasonable price

I am working on an embedded project with MPC860 and SDRAM. I want to use UPM for working with Micron Tech. SDRAMs.I have some problem in it ,has anyone any experience in this regard ?
