Put a Non Polar Capacitor in series. the capacitor should be of a voltage rating at least 3 times that of the AC riding on the DC.

The IBM PC 5.25 disks, especially the DD type ( NOT HD ) work well enough. you do have to cut a slot for removing the write protection on the other edge of the cover ( exact distance-exact size) if you want to use the disk on both sides.
