I also agree that there is nothing to be blamed for in using fourier analysis. Make sure to use the appropriate windows (triangular, hamming....etc..).

The people who praises Norton Antivirus doesn't have enough background in the field, I believe.
My experience has proven that Kaspersky is the most stable/long term solution that consumes the lowers memory for the broadest set of features (while doing the job of course).
Expertise in AMXS design is twofold I believe:
a strong knowledge
problem solving skills
for 1., ±20% of this knowledge doesnt have that deep consequences providing that the basics are acquired.
2. can really make the difference even if 1. is less than expected.
