The new trends in DSP is about wavelets, now beyond wavelets came like Contourlet transform.
It is a good topic to do projects and researches. So u can proceed with some image enhancement or noise reduction or fingure print identification, vehicle identification etc...

but still i have some doubts regarding, how an image downsampled by a matrix... :???:
I am also having the same doubt... how come u did the downsampling by quincunx matrix? like Q=[1 -1; 1 1] right.. so how u did that, based on the image size. have to do down sampling for row as well as column..how will it do? if u can , will u give me some examples....

like d=[2,0;0,2]
I need to downsample an image which is in matrix form by this 'd'.
if the image is 512x512 how could i make this d to the size of image.
