Unfortunately, at the targeted frequencies the impedance of the coils becomes so large, that a resonance circuit would be necessary with a capacitor in the femto farad region with a voltage rating that is practically not feasible. Thanks anyway!

Unfortunately not. I can only assign...
Hello,
how would one start with simulating helmholtz coils at 2.87 GHz in HFSS? I couldn't find any material online. Can you approximate the current * windings as the current through a single loop? Is there a way to excite lumped ports with a current instead of a voltage or do I have to...
Hello,
I am currently trying to learn and understand the process of simulating microwave antennas / inductors in Ansys HFSS. To do this I am trying to recreate the results of a paper by K. Sasaki et al. (see figure 1 (my simulation) and figure 2 (the result of the paper (FIG. 2a)) or DOI...
Hello Volker,
Thank you for the reference to the resonator loop.
I assume you're referring to a loop gap resonator? If I understand correctly the way the resonator works is to create a resonating standing wave in a oneway current trace (just the way you posted a few answers above)?
For a...
I chose the dimensions according to the documentation by ansys on waveports. How would one go about defining a input wattage for lumped ports? I could only define a input current for each port, no power.
Let me define the boundary conditions then:
I need to create an - as homogeneous as can be...
Volkers design is practically what I already planned:
The question is now if I defined the waveports correctly. I applied a normalization to 50 Ohm, set the Integration Line from the GND plane (underside of the substrate in the image) to the conductor on the top and set the excitation wattage...
Thanks. I found that its in Watts for the Modal Solution Type.
So if I use an inductor instead of an antenna by connecting both poles of the signal to my current loop - which is formed like a large Ohm symbol - how should I go and simulate it in HFSS?
I assume using waveports in a modal...
Unfortunately I can't go into too much detail since it is a ongoing research project. The area in which we need the homogeneous magnetic field is about 5mmx5mmx100nm (which is a subvolume in a 5mmx5mmx30µm cube). The cube itself is positioned in the plane of the PCB surface inside the aperture...
Hi!
Wow! Thanks for the answers. I'll look into waveport excitation. To be precise, we need a certain magnetic flux in the plane of the antenna inside the aperture. This is usually done by a single wire across the sample with an applied microwave signal generating an oscillating magnetic field...
Hello,
I want to design a microwave antenna at ~3GHz on a 2 layer PCB in order to create a oscillating magnetic field in an aperture. The antenna is looped around a 7mm aperture and has a width of 3mm, resulting in an impedance of about 50 Ohm with FR4. Tho I am an engineer, my experience with...
