I found a free book that is very nice to read, very easy of understand, I really recommend (and is free!):

It have practical examples, easy of implement code for computer like the old Quick Basic but it was for me very helpful.

For use with Nano PLC you can try the PCIM from Schneider, they can give you a trial version (limited).
In my opinion the best is Wonderware (In Touch).

The work with real number in FPGA is very complicated.
I suggest to transform the real numbers in integers (taking in consideration all the possible values min and max that the numbers can have). Calculate 24 or 32 bits length (integer). All the calculation is better (easier) done in integers...
