    4 port s-parameters to differential s parameters ?

Hi all, I am looking for a way of converting 4 port single ended s-parameters to 2-port differential s-parameters. I know that Matlab has a script for that (s2sdd.m) but I don't have the RF tool box. Can anyone provide formulas for the conversion ? Equations/scripts anything will help. Thanks...

Need help for ADS S-parameter simulation

converting y-matrix to s-matrix ads You can convert it to Y-parameters and then, you can calculate L=(1/2*pi*f)*imaginary(1/Y11) for an inductor with port 2 grounded, else it will be 1/Y12 instead of Y11 if you need the inductance from terminal 1 to 2. svarun

Which meshing tool is most useful in electromagnetic CAD?

Meshing tools Hi all, If you are working in electromagnetic CAD, which mesher have you found to be the most useful one for your applications ? I need some inputs on the I-DEAS and the PATRAN meshers. Thanks svarun

On chip Spiral inductors and substrate dielectric constant

Re: On chip Spiral inductors and substrate dielectric consta Thanks czn I was looking at what happens if you vary the epsilon ? Does 'L' get affected ? L is magnetic property and epsilon is related to dielectric property. Will L depend on epsilon at all ? svarun

On chip Spiral inductors and substrate dielectric constant

Hi all, I just want to know what effect the dielectric constant of the substrate has on the 'L' of a spiral inductor. Can it be said that only 'C' depends on epsilon and not 'L' ? How about 'Q' ? Thanks svarun

    Noise simulation done by SPICE

Hi all, I have a question on noise simulation in analog circuits. Suppose I am doing the frequency domain analysis of an amplifier at a frequency 'f' with thermal noise coming in from the resistors. I want to see how much noise voltage is present at the output. How is the noise be modelled in...

    Reflection and transmission in HFSS

Well, that is a part of the question. The usual thing is to measure transmitted field and then get the Tx coefficient and then find the reflected coefficient. How do I go about in this case ? What I am doing is to have a slab, draw airbox around it and put periodic boundary conditions on 4...

    Reflection and transmission in HFSS

Hi all, I have a slab of dielectric in free and a plane wave is incident. I want to find the reflection and transmission coefficients. How do I do this ? Thanks svarun

Inputting negative mu and epsilon in HFSS ?

+hfss +k vector Hi savedadogs, Yes !. I found that at the interface between media (n=1 and n=-1), the normal component of E and H fields changes directions and the tangential component remains same. I was wondering whether there is a way to plot the 'k' vector in both the media to show that...

Inputting negative mu and epsilon in HFSS ?

negative epsilon hfss Hi all, Is it possible to input negative epsilon and mu values in HFSS 9.2/10.1 and get the results that show negative refractive index ? or will it just take n=sqrt(abs(epsilon*mu)) svarun

    FDTD memory and speed requirements

Hi all, Can anyone let me know about the complexity of FDTD ? How does the solution time and memory increase with the number of discretizations ? Thanks svarun
