can i design simulation of ad hoc networks using matlab instead of ns-2 or opnet, specially transport layer protocols and routing protocols? .... please suggest any books or toolbox for this purpose .... thanks

I know that most famous protocol used on transport layer is TCP/IP ... are there any other proposed protocols whch can be used instead of TCP/IP ... of course they are not in use ... but what are the proposed alternative protocols? ... please reply....
