It is not easy to say the ground in singnal layers good or not. If you done well layout, it will be much benefit, if not, it will be nightmare.
For a 8-layers board with only one ground and power layers, it is truely bad.

As my experience, for a starter, Protel is much easier. for a mass production products and design with a big team, mentor expedition is the best. for schematic, OrCAD capture is the most friendly one, the problem is transfer one schematic from OrCAD to mentor always not...
Where can I get some article about ferrite in EMC suppress, I need used some ferrite in my design to suppress the radiation from 30~300MHz, especially in 30~40MHz and 247MHz around
