The large plate for power & the ground is used to avoing electomicgration. Electromigration means a surge current passing through the power supply line & finally damaging the power lines . To avoid this we genaraly use large metal widths.
A guaring for each transistor is not required . A NW tap for a PMOS transistor & PPLUS TAP for a NMOS transitor is fine because it depends on howmuch current ur diffpair is ging to take & secondly how how much current ur whole circuit is ging to take.If say DP is going to take say in microamps...
which tool for lvs u used. It may be a problem with ur layout also . If ur using a diffrential pair the the routings should exactly match then only u will get equal prasitic on both the gates. this may be a problem check this out
