Is anyone familiar with Asynchronous FIFO Implementation?

fifo implementation in vhdl arena_yang you can also learn a lot looking at how people at http://www.free-ip.com/ramlib/fifo.html implemented async fifos in vhdl. You can download full source code there ! Greets sgrudu

Looking for someone to discuss about the OpenRisc1000

Yes I want to work with it. But have not much time now. I would implement it on the m*emec Sp@rtan-II 200 board with ethernet and serial core from open cores too.. but I didn't check if that would fit in a sp@rtan-II 200. Let's use this topic in the forum to keep in touch on progress we make :-)...

pci spec differences between 2.0/2.1/2.2/2.3 help is needed.

This pdf summarizes differences between 2.2 and 2.3. Hope this helps. You can find full 2.2 and 2.1 specs on MCU Fileman. If you can't find 2.3 on this board then ask here and I or someone else will post them here. Greets, sgrudu. PS I think we can safely move this topic to "...

Looking for someone to discuss about the OpenRisc1000

I'd like to hear experience about Open RISC 1000 Core too ! Recently I've talked/asked here about @ltera n1os and x1linx M1croblaze but I forgot to mention this core which seems very promising.. It's free, it has a free working toolchain (gcc , gdb etc..) and a free operating system running on...

Soldering TQFP -- The big problem

hand solder tqfp Eh eh, the application note from the link above (from cygnal.com) is identical to the article published in CIRCUIT CELLAR #142, MAY 2002 pointed by ZeRoN.. In fact, reading from the article you see that the author works for Cygnal :-) Greets sgrudu

    microblaze evalboard schematics?

It depends on which FPGA you want to use. On Xilinx site you can find the schematics of the Virtex-II pro ML-300 eval board, the one with the touch pad lcd screen. :-) It has a 10/100 eth interface, among tons of other interfaces. But that board is quite complicated. Here is the link...

    n1os & m1croblaze, opinions ?

Yesterday @ltera annouced version 3.0 of n1os soft processor core. Also x1linx m1croblaze stuff is in big development. It seems we'll see in the future lot of applications working with these soft processors. I've ordered an ins1ght xil1nx proto board and as soon as I can will give a try to...

How to protect the IP in an FPGA design?

With current known technology and knowledge 3DES cannot be cr@cked, not in the time of the life of a man :-) Currently with the budget of a government agency it is possible to cr@ck des in less than 24 hours but des has 56 bit strength , 3DES is 112bit ... obviously you must double the cr@cking...

How to protect the IP in an FPGA design?

Also Lattice Semiconductors has another solution, which is quite interesting: an sram based fpga with e2prom integrated in the chip! https://www.latticesemi.com/products/technology/isp_xp.cfm greets, sgrudu

X1linx announced few days ago that they will reduce the price of v1rtex-II pro of the 50% in 2004 !! This makes that monster of a fpga even more interesting :-) **broken link removed**
