help diagnose problem with phased array antenna

If I check their continuity using multimeter, will it hurt the rfic? Is there any other way to reduce the coupling? Actually I couldn't find a way to give the control signals to the phase shifters without cutting a strips in ground plane (I think even that would have degraded the RF performance)...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

Thanks for all your help. I was busy in my project so I could not post the results. I built a new PCB using your suggestions. It worked with satisfying results. I m uploading pictures of pcb as well as measured results. The RF cable I used with VNA machine was not of very good quality. Thanks...

help diagnose problem with phased array antenna

Thanks for reply. We don't have a separate fixture to test the equipment in our college. But I have enough RF switches to replace the suspected faulty RF switches. 1) Should I replace them and again try with the RSSI experiment I mentioned. 2) I used Wilkinson power divider with measured...

help diagnose problem with phased array antenna

Sorry I dont have the picture of the setup used for measurement. But they did use Styrofoam with proper amount of carbon. As for the interaction between the antennas, I used inverted F monopoles. But I used HFSS to simulated the interaction earlier during design phase. As I have told you I...

help diagnose problem with phased array antenna

I designed a four element linear phased array antenna for WIFI for my final year project. I used switched line phase shifter made with Skyworks SPDT rfic. I tested the individual components and they are working fine. Now the problem is that when I attach my phased array with WIFI USB adapter...

LEAPER 48 does not pick PIC18f2550 parameters by its self.

I figured out why LEAPER 48 is not reading the parameters right. I am sharing it so that if anyone else has this problem it might help him. Actually the problem is in the definition of PIC18f2550 and PIC18f4550. When you select the these devices from the menu, a dialog shows up that the config...

LEAPER 48 does not pick PIC18f2550 parameters by its self.

I am trying to usb interface my PIC18f2550 with PC. I am using WFF HID USB demo from waitingforfriday.com .The problem is that the LEAPER 48 universal burner is not picking the config bits. I compiled the code with C18 compiler in MPLAB lite ide. The problem is that PC recognizes HID device but...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

Just one more question: 1. Where should I place the DC block cap between the two switches? Right now they are at the points marked yellow in the picture. Should I replace it with only two cap at the positions marked red in the picture? Thanks for all your help. I will follow these...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

    1. I just wanted to add 1000pF to the control lines because it will be connected to microcontroller and I read at some place that it is added to reduce noise of digital signal. 2. As for the 4.7 kohm resistor, isn't it already available in the switch? Because the resistor is not mentioned in...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

Thanks for the reply. For the digital lines, I will be controlling the lines using microcontroller. I thought that for the digital lines of the rf ic, the line length or width of the line does not make any difference. i think I was wrong. I just wanted to reduce the control lines effort by...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

Thanks for the replies. I will test the transmission line but as I have said I am building a phased array antenna, so I have already used this line width ( 2.55 mm for FR-4, Er = 4.3) in wilkinson power divider and single inverted-f antenna. I tested them after fabrication and they show good...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

Thanks for the quick reply. I have few more questions. 1. Does placing the ground via near the switch makes any difference? 2. Where should I short the digital ground with rf ground? The black wire at the two sides are the digital grounds which I have used. Should I short it at the middle pin...

[SOLVED] Help with operation of phase shifter using SPDT switch

I am designing a phase array antenna for my final year project. For phase shifting part I am using skyworks SPDT Switch AS213-92LF. As there is no model available for simulating the switch, so I directly designed and tested the phase shifter. The PCB is shown in the picture. It is not final PCB...

Want help with dividing power among elements of phased array antenna

Actually the the power divider part is just the feeding network for my phased array antenna elements. I could not model the switched line network of phase shifting in HFSS ( because I am using skyworks rf switches for which I dont have s parameters matrix) so I directly connected the individual...
