I find following topics interesting for Project.
1) Simulation of forward link and reverse link
2) Simulation of voice calls.
3) SImulation of Power control onforward and reverse link.

FHSS:- Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum. In this , the user trasmitted signal changes the frequency randomly. That means, suppose user is on frequency f1 when it starts the transmission. Then after some random time, it switches to f2 then f3 the f6 and then f9 and so on...

Tramp,
3G evolution for GSM family means that TO support PAcket data GSM networks were upgraded by means of adding new network elements linke SGSN and GGSN in GPRS. TO further increase the data rates supported by the network, 3GPP introduced new air interface which is...
Re: throughput?
In short,
Throughput is the no. of bits transferred/transmitted per unit time. usually denoted in bits/sec.
This is the measure of a digital communication link capacity.

gsm or wcdma
These standards are part of 3GPP Evolution.
They evolved as below.
GSM-->GPRS-->EDGE-->WCDM(UMTS)-->HSDPA.
GSM did not support packet data.
GPRS supported packet data at 171.2 kbps theoretically with new network elements in Core network (SGSN and GGSN).
EDGE uses same network...

EGSM ( Exended GSM :- 35 MHz badwidth on UL and DL) is an extension to PGSM (Pure GSM :- 25 MHZ Bandwidth on UL and DL) which is the basic band for GSM.
The Mobile (triband) can use all these bands.
hard handoff vs soft handoff
I will make the handover definitions simple
Hard Handover:- When mobile(in Call) switches to a new sector/Cell which is on different frequency , then it performs hard Handover. It is basically an inter-frequency handover.
SOft Handover:- When mobile ( in Call0...
