you know what, i actually called them up and although they will look into it and try to come up with a recommendation, they did say that these chips pick up all the signals on the band and come up with an RMS measurement...that's no good.

800MHz - 2100MHz range.. high sensitivity i guess(to overcome the low power of the spread of the WCDMA signal)

I am assuming that for that chip i have to make up a circuit that i might not have enough time to conceive...right?

thanks i will give that a try. the gps is made by garmin and it has a 232 chip inside i suppose. i trust they have a good conversion going on. it's a +/- 5V so should be good. i will try the tapping method though. thanks..

once in a while, recently more often unfortunately, my GPS connected to a PIC24F development board gives a weird sentence. connection is rs232 using the explorer 16.

I found a way to build a multiplexer/demultiplexer plus level shifter circuit to use in this case. i haven't tested it because im still figuring out the programming part. what do you guys things should this work?
