Alas the 100nf cap didn't work either, connected it on the gate side of Rg (220R) to Vee, also tried it between IC Pin 8 and Rg and Vee, still the same circuit breaker trip on 12v instantaneously. Still works fine if the crowbar is connected to the DC-DC output before the DC-DC...

I have 5 DC-DC outputs in total, x3 at 12v, x1 at 14v and the last at 19.5v, I shall base each crowbar as close to 50mA as possible into their respective SCR Gates as you suggest.
