it is not WAVEGUIDE port, but WAVE port! It feeds waveguides and all kind of transmision lines ( microstrip lines as on the picture)
I actualy prefer lumped port, for microstrip lines. wave port often gives acuracy problems.
Re: UWB antenna design
Usualy - radiating monopole over a ground plane. Can give 3-4 GHz of bandwith. In some occasions it is not convinient to use, especialy if there are other objects nearby - they limit the BW
I'm doing a PhD in Fractal antennas. For simulations i use HFSS. The problem with em is that is very hard to draw the fractal shapes. In acurracy i have no problems, despite a lot of opinions in favore of CST. We can exchange some ideas.
